What benefits do I have under my own insurance policy if I have been injured?

PDF Print E-mail

In Kansas, every car insurance policy provides the owner with accident benefits called personal injury protection (PIP). If you are injured in a car accident, then your own insurer provides you with medical and rehabilitation benefits regardless of who was at fault up to the limit of your own policy. If you do not have a car insurance policy, then you will be covered by the policy of a person that you are dependant upon or the driver of the car you were in at the time of the accident. If there is still no policy available you could be covered by the insurer for the car that caused the accident. It is important to review this matter with a lawyer as soon as possible to determine which policy will cover you.
